In a way, we make folktales that 'explain' and predict what is going on, but instead of the myriad of demons and monsters and gods, we try to find the simplest and best rules (e.g. 'Theories', or explanations in colloquial terms, should be as simple as possible, but explain and predict as much as possible. It's an art in itself, so don't expect to learn it over night.īut there's also the 'simplicity attitude'. So you've got to say honestly what you observed in your experiments, what you did and what other external factors are there. Physics is supposed to describe nature as exact as possible, not follow the set rules of someone. As other people have said the openstax textbooks are pretty good, especially because the material they cover is generally pretty straightforward and standardized among physics courses. MIT OCW is a great resource for many different classes, but I think their Classical mechanics is particularly good because it's made for the website IIRC. There's a lot of free resources online for actual physics classes online. For most math, up through calculus III I can not recommend the youtube channel Professor Leonard enough. The gateway to studying a lot of physics concepts is varying levels of math. How much math do you have/how much physics have you currently studied.
